Drapes For Burgundy Walls

DAY 5 --- Eileen Donan Castle - Isle of Skye

Despite the fatigue that every day we went to permeate, that night we slept very well and was not in any way that the bed was uncomfortable. I had to wake up in a couple of times to put a towel on the window because, in the houses is very rare Scottish blinds or curtains, maybe a curtain just fine filter prevents clarity.

The first time I got up, was dawn and looked incredulously at my watch. "Cómorl? 5 in the morning .... What it was day? Yes
friends. At this time of year and these latitudes, nights no more than 5 hours so if you plan to go to Scotland in June and you are half vampire like me, better to bring your a mask if you want a good sleep.

Middle disclosed because of the towel that did nothing but fall, at 7 and a half we were up, dressed, showered and ready to railroaded our 4 th Scottish breakfast, accompanied by fried eggs so perfect, that looked like toy .

Thus ended our stay in this cozy bed and breakfast called Bannerman, where once again treated us wonderfully.
The price for two nights, 110 pounds. A value for money excellent.

After saying goodbye to the lady and her dog Hugo, got the luggage in the car to start heading towards the island of Skye. Since
also known as the island of Mist, we feared the worst when he saw what had become cloudy day to dawn.

Inverness But before leaving, we had the opportunity check again the kindness of Scots to enter a computer store and ask us to pass the pictures of the cards to a pen drive that we had taken.
The boy who attended us, apart from taking the trouble to copy the photos (which were many) and tell us interesting things about Inverness, would not charge us anything. Was useless to insist, so wherever you are, thank you very much buddy.

To go to Skye without giving up our visit to Eilean Donan Castle, we were forced to take back the A82.
The previous day we had already given a good portion of Loch Ness so this time we pay more attention to the right side of the road.
In one of our stops we decided to get into the thick forest where almost by chance, we find this impressive waterfall, one of several that feed Loch Ness with its belligerent waters.

was the only stop we made to reach the vicinity of the Five Sisters , a small mountain range with five predominant and very similar. Hence the curious name of the five sisters.

The height of the mountains is a of the most unique optical effects in Scotland. At start of level ground and do it from almost sea level, gives the impression that all the mountains are very high, when rarely exceed 1,000 meters. Perhaps the video you can get an better idea.

The mountains beyond 900 meters are known as Munros and they say, you can not leave Scotland without having crowned at least one of them .
We did not want to be outdone, though in the end we were left alone in the attempt. Or maybe not. Is this
munro outbreak of not count?

There are nearly 290 Munros scattered throughout Scotland and pilgrimage to them is a favorite pastime of the Scots. Even told us that there is a small elite of walkers who take pride if any uploaded all.
The truth is that the view from up there must be impressive.

As impressive as the enormous gulf that divides this munro called The Saddle (saddle), where they keep huge torrents of water down.

she was about to reach our first destination of the day but before Mari Carmen wanted to vent his unusual complex of Maria Antonieta about to be guillotined, pulling his head out the sunroof of the car and filming is panoramic Loch Duich and Five Sisters.

At 12 am, we arrived at Eilean Donan Castle, a fortress was begun in 1220, been the scene of countless battles was left in ruins until 1912, a Scottish clan moneybags McRae decided to buy and restore.

Like Paris Eiffel Tower or Pyramid of Cheops in Egypt, this might be the most iconic (at least the most photographed) in Scotland. If
also makes a sun as bright as the mid-morning appeared, her reflection in the water makes it a hypnotic kind of place you do not get tired of looking at him.

Besides its natural beauty and its idyllic location on Lake Duich, Eilean Donan Castle on has become famous for serving stage for a good collection of movies. Among the best known are "The Immortals" ( Highlander) or "The World is Not Enough" 007.

not have said so far, but in any tourist office and only 15 pounds, you can buy a voucher that allows free visit countless castles and monuments officers. It pays in the end, though for no good Eilean Donan Castle.
Admission is 7 pounds, but very few who resist the magnetism of the castle, if only because crossing the mythical bridge in which many famous people have left their mark.

Inside the castle is decorated with exquisite taste and full of life-size figures that make real sense of having traveled back in time.

Nor was allowed to take pictures inside, but so very tired of being civil, we decided to violate some law.

Not to be betrayed by the flash, we only had to turn it off and put the camera to ISO-400 with more results than acceptable. Oh yes, we know before!

As you can see from the photos, everything is taken care of as much detail . Descriptions of each corner of the castle are spread over brochures in several languages and very well explained. If we add all its romantic lake views from inside, a visit to Eilean Donan becomes inexcusable.

Sometimes sun, sometimes not. Sometimes the color green predominates and other vegetation is almost nil.
One of the things that most impact is the sense of stillness, broken only occasionally by Tornado fighters from the British Royal Air Force to rip the sky with its deafening WIG.

We intend to explore the island from end to end, but then we realized it would be an impossible task for several reasons.
The first is that the size of the island is very misleading and there are so many things to do that literally, not enough time.
The other reason is the narrow roads and the multitude of stray cattle that must be avoided. This slows down enough progress.
Except the main road to Portree (the only "city" of the island), 90% of roads in Skye are single lane both ways and must constantly be stopping the passing place, where one ends up asleep with his hand to greet both driver gives way.
This can be tedious, is better understood when you look around and make communion with the environment. Then you realize that it must be so, a balance must be maintained so that this natural treasure is not contaminated.
And so, it is not surprising that Goats are so happy there.

decided to skirt the Trotternish Peninsula, which is one of the wildest areas of Skye and also one of the most attractive offer.
started along the coast west to Uig , a small coastal town famous for its pottery, where we had lunch. Ferries depart from there bound for the Outer Hebrides.

few miles later, we a stroll through the soulless Kilmuir port making sure that the people on the island of Skye, but people are mosaics of small farms and crofts very distant from one another.

Kilmuir Nearby is the Skye Museum of Island Life, a small town with Celtic-style houses, built of stone and roofed with straw. Although access to the inside of them was closed (you know, it was after 5), we go to visit the site without any problems.

Next to it, is a small cemetery with some evocative views of the infinite ocean where the remains of Flora McDonald, famous for starring in a high-profile romance with then aspiring to the throne Bonnie Prince Charlie , who managed to save from the gallows hiding at home. Mira
nice girl.

This is the northernmost point of the island and from there further worsens the road, winding along the coast in a gentle but dangerous descent.

must lead tactfully if not want to miss a delicious panoramas, like this one is near Staffin .

the untamed island of Skye, as perverse and capricious climate, we were offering a totally unexpected sunny day, which we appreciated as it otherwise would have been very difficult to distinguish between their sentences mists the Old Man of Storr , an impressive basalt monolith that rises jubilant with its 55 meters high.

This is one of natural treasures more representative of Skye with other wonders like Kilt Rock, which unfortunately we spent long.
Here is the video for the Old Man of Storr, a comprehensive documentary of 20 seconds.

After spending a long time paralyzed by the beauty of those rocky needles, we decided to keep pumping kilometers down to the southern tip of the island, especially to a place called Elgol to contemplate the Cuillins , a range unusual in Scotland for the tapered shape of their peaks somewhat reminiscent of the dark mountains that appear in the Lord of the Rings.

A glance at the GPS, looked close but it took more than an hour to travel 40 miles we seemed eternal.
Apart from the Cuillin in the distance, we saw only sheep and goats. There was nothing else in Elgol. Elgol
that we put to us, hahaha. But he kept paying off.
That day the weather was quite mild, but seeing the inclination of these trees we could make a clear idea of how they should be there on windy days.
sure to cars are anchored.

Internet Somewhere, I remember having read someone describing (very wise of course), Scotland travel experience as "living in a model of Ibertren."
We had the same feeling for many times, but never as intense when back to Portree, we found this spectacular landscape of mountains and sea.
was the closest thing to a living postcard I'd seen in my life.

After another hour of driving recklessly (forced) and lots of greetings to other drivers, we Portree intended to dine there. We were told that was one of the best places WORLD ate seafood. But of course, for the umpteenth time sunlight turned to deceive and ten at night, restaurants were already closed.
All but one, but when we saw the prices, curiously took away the urge to suddenly seafood.

Since we were there we did not want to waste the opportunity to make a brief walk along the main road near the port, to hope that a wayward crab looked out.

After ten minutes I had reached the other end of Portree
Given that this is the most populous town of Skye, imagine as are the others.
From there we saw in better detail the charm offering its colorful houses and boats stranded on the beach.
was unbearable to see so many beautiful landscapes. Came to be cruel. Someone should stop this because we could not more.

the end was our place of accommodation who ended up breaking the spell, because on arrival we found a room rather filthy, ugly decor and bathroom seemed nineteenth century. Something
disappointing to be the most expensive hotel that cost us the whole trip (120 pounds a night), but then had to see the positive side.
At least I had curtains.

a shame because out of doors in the room, everything was wonderful. The
Skeabost Hotel is nestled in a dream site on the shores of Lake Snizort cute, surrounded by a manicured gardens and golf courses and an appearance worthy of 5 stars.

Before going to bed, we wanted to take a stroll through the back of the hotel to lower the slices of bread with Nutella we had dinner (again) and of course, to watch the sunset.
company made us very majete an English tourist who was in charge of reminding us that it was June 21, summer solstice and that's why so late dusk.
I know hard to believe but it was nearly 12 pm when we made this picture.

Undoubtedly, one of the longest and most beautiful crepúsuculos we have ever seen. Even more than the sunsets we enjoy almost daily in our Tiétar Valley .... and that is saying a lot.
If it were not for the clouds of mosquitoes that beset us without mercy, perhaps we would be talking about one of the most romantic moments of our life.
